FOCUS
Safety in the workplace. Making use of primary and secondary research to identify the reasons for construction workers not wearing the proper PPE. Creating an intervention that is able to suit the given context.
Features
The design includes two armbands and a waistband. The bands incorporate both fluorescent and reflective materials. The design makes use of the minimum material requirement for Class 1 - ISO rating. It has two pouches strategically at the pulse points to efficiently cool the body through evaporation. Water is used as the coolant as it is easily available on-site.
The design incorporates an adjustable strap making it size and gender-inclusive. It is secured using a side release buckle for time time-efficiency. Time efficiency is important to daily wagers, as each hour influences income.
The vest is more sustainable as it reduces the amount of waste generated by utilising the least amount of material required.
