Sting Like A Bee

The set was born from the idea of creating heirloom pieces for our future generation. I chose to create a shelf and a linocut print that symbolise bees. The reason I chose to go with the route of bees was to create a commentary on their endangerment. Bees are an integral part of our survival on Earth and are cardinal factors in sustaining the planet - yet, we take them for granted.

Both the shelf and the print show a deteriorating honeycomb, thus reflecting how humans “alpha-species” mindset has lead to their decline.

The future generation can therefore look at these artefacts as symbols of human greed, negligence and overall egocentrism - and thereby not let history repeat itself.
